De Marina Alta forms the northern part of the Costa Blanca and runs from approximately Dénia to Calpe. The area borders to the north on the province of Valencia and is considered one of the most exclusive and natural regions of the Costa Blanca.

Landscape and nature

The Marina Alta is known for her dramatic coastline with cliffs, small coves and green hills. In contrast to the southern part of the Costa Blanca, this area is much more mountainous and greener.

An important natural area is the nature park around Montgó Natural Park, which dominates the skyline between Dénia and Jávea.

Main places

The region includes several well-known coastal towns:

  • Dénia – important port city with ferry connections to Ibiza and Mallor
  • Jávea (Xàbia) – popular with international residents
  • Moraira – small-scale and luxurious seaside resort
  • Benissa – known for its coastal villas
  • Calpe – known for the rock Peñón de Ifach

Real estate market

Marina Alta is one of the most expensive real estate regions of the Costa Blanca.

Many buyers are:

  • Belgians
  • Dutch
  • Germans
  • Scandinavians

Typical property:

  • Luxury villas with sea views
  • Residential urbanizations
  • Exclusive new-build projects

Ambience

The ambience in Marina Alta is often described as quiet, green and high-quality. Tourism is present, but less mass-scale than in other parts of the Costa Blanca.
